Membership Requirements

Eligibility for registration to the committee is for legal practitioners between 1 (one) and 5 (five) years at the Bar. A registration fee of N5, 000 (Five Thousand Naira) will need to be paid to the committee. Payment of this fee will entitle a member to join one SBL committee free of charge. However, membership of additional SBL committee’s will incur an extra cost. Also, the member will only be required to pay the discounted rate of N5, 000 as annual membership fees subsequently.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Young Lawyers Committee

About Us
The Young Lawyers Committee is a creation of the Section on Business Law of the Nigerian Bar Association; formally inaugurated on the 7th of April 2010 at the 5th Annual Conference of the Section on Business Law held in Abuja. The Committee is the 18th standing committee of the SBL and it exists as a platform for the convergence of young legal minds to harness relevant potentials, identify areas of challenge, proffer possible solutions and interact/network with our foreign counterparts. The Committee thus provides an enabling environment for young lawyers to brainstorm on salient and topical legal issues.

The objectives of the Committee are:

  1. To breed future leaders of the Nigerian Bar;
  2. To encourage the convergence of professional ideas amongst young and emerging practitioners;
  3. To identify various professional challenges experienced by young lawyers and make recommendations to the SBL, which will in turn convey such recommendations to the parent body, the Nigerian Bar Association;
  4. To assist young lawyers develop the practice of law in accordance with global standards;
  5. Networking among colleagues at the Bar;
  6. To complement the efforts of the SBL in achieving its goals.
